Ohio Valley-Great Lakes Ethnohistory Archive Finder's Guide
Tribal History Documents Collection
The Tribal History Documents Collection is comprised of 807 notebooks (8" x
12") containing key documents pertaining to Indian/White relations for 16 tribal
groups in the Ohio Valley-Great Lakes region. The information placed in the
notebooks was transcribed or copied from published material, microfilm, and
other sources. Each included item is noted in the project bibliography and is
recorded in the microfilm or transcribed document indices. The notebooks are
organized by the common tribal designation and, then, chronologically. The collection
was continuously updated and it is one of the most comprehensive assemblages
of ethnographic/ethnohistoric data in existence.
