The Ouiatanon have been led into the government of Louisiana by the Sieur de Vincennes, who is entirely removed from this one. The Sieur de Beauharnois (to oblige this nation to return to the Miami to seek their necessities) at first had planned not to permit any voyageur to go to that region, and his plan would have been carried out if he had not been pledged to grant this permission to some Frenchmen to escort missionaries to the Tamaroa;37 they took away with them a quantity of merchandise which they will exploit in the former post as usual.
