I adress myself to you all, not knowing who is alive or who is Dead. I have only to inform you, that by the blessing of the Almighty, and the help of Mr. Louison Chivalie I escaped being kill'd when this unfortunate Garrison was Massacred. Mr. Hambough and me being hid in the House of the said Chivalie, for four days & Nights; Mr. Hambough is brought by the Savages to the Illinois likewise Mr. Chim. Unfortunate me remains here Captive with the Savages. I must say that I met with no bad Usage; however I would that I was some Christian or other. I am quite Naked, & Mr. Castacrow who is indebted to Mr. Cole, would not give me an Inch to save me from Death, who the day before the Massacre here offered to Pay me part of said Debt, but since that denied in the presence of Mr. Chivalie that he owed any thing, untill I produced his note he then said that his note was no Order to pay any part of said dept to me. I am informed that Castacrow has Information, that Mr Cole was killd on his way from Niagara; I have nothing to say concerning our Enimy here but the recommend to the Savages at D'Troit to quit their firing (page 208) upon the Fort at D'Troit, that as the Six Nations began the War they might persist in it, we are informed that Miamies, Mr. Holmes & part of Garrison were kill'd the other part carried down the Wabach to join the Garrison of Ouiatinon, and Carried all to the Illinous at Ouiatinon there was not one killd but all taken Prisoners
