Oct 1	"	2	Camp at Wyattatenong	Colonel Hartley's (Rebel) speech to the Chief & principal Indians of Chumong desiring them to forbear all acts of cruelty on their People.

Decr 1779	"	3	St. Dusky	Copies of various speeches by Lt. Caldwell 8th Regt. by order of the Comg. officer Detroit to several Nations to animate them to act with vigor and unamimity.

Jany 5h	"	4	Fort Pitt	Copy of a speech sent among the Delawares supposed by Colonel Morgan Supt. of Indian Affairs for the Rebels inviting them for their Interest.

April 20th	"	5	Chicagou	Rebel Genl. Clarke's speech to the Poutawatamies requesting they may remain neutral.

July 31st	"	6	St. Dusky	Letter from Mr. Arundell with speeches of Delawares in Council with the Wyandotts, to Capt. Lernoult concerning the Declaration made by Count D'Estaing, in French King's name.

Augt 23d	"	7	Detroit	Speech of the Hurons of St. Dusky & Capt. Lernoult's answer with Intelligence &c showing their uneasiness of Govr. Hamilton's disaster & of the enemy Coming against them.

Sept 18h	"	8	Fort Pitt	Copy of a Council brought to Detroit by Duentate a Chief of the Hurons, inviting the King's Indians to a Treaty of Friendship.

Oct 20h	"	9	Shawanese village	Speech from the Shawanese Oct. to Major Lernoult informing of a Body of Rebels coming against them from Fort Pitt.

Nov 16h	"	10	Fort Pitt	Copy of a Speech in Council between the Rebels Delawares & some of the Shawanese who have been always attached to that Interest for to act with them.

1780
Augt 22	"	11	Shawanese village	Speech of the Shawanese & Delawares to Major De Peyster informing him of their Villages being destroyed by the Rebels & of another party from Fort Pitt requests assistance.

Sept 15h 1781	"	12	Upper Shawanese	Speech sent by a Frenchman in the Rebel Interest at Fort Pitt to the Shawanese, Delawares, Mingoes &c forewarning them of their Danger & Rebel Col. Broadhead's message informing them of a large body of Horse & Foot.

Apl 5h	"	15	Ditto	Ditto with the principal Chiefs of the Shawanese, Delawares & Cherokees for assistance to go and repulse the Enemy.

Apl. 26h	"	16	Detroit	Ditto with the principal Chiefs of the Six Nations, Hurons, Ottawas, Chippawas, Poutawatamies &c giving acct. of the Enemy's approach with Capt. Brants address to the whole, proceed immediately to St. Dusky &c.

July 29h	"	17	Ditto	Speech to the Chiefs of the Hurons before Major De Peyster, requests a Missionary.

Augt. 11h	"	18	Ditto	Extract of a Conference held with the Poutawatamies from the Terr Coup to extend some relief towards their men, women & children for their services.

Oct 21st	"	19	Ditto	Extract of do with the Hurons from San Dusky, craving assistance to go early in the Spring to destroy Fort Pitt.

Oct 29h	"	20	Ditto	Ditto of do with the Miamis sent from their town with Intelligence of the enemy marching towards their country & a demand of Ammunition.

Nov. 9h	"	21	Ditto	Do. of a Council by Major De Peyster with Delawares under Capt. Pipe & Winingan their principal chiefs, concerning the Moravian teachers brought in.

Dec 11h 1782	"	22	Ditto	Do of do with Delawares under Buckagihilas & Capt. Pipe's condolence & for arms to continue the war

Feb. 25h	"	23	Detroit	Extract of a Council held by Major De Peyster with the Mascontin & Oui-qu-a-pout¹ Nation, advising them not to take a part with the Rebels.

Apl 22	"	24	Ditto	Do of do with the Misshikinackwaa Chief from Ouiat and those who accompanied him, delivering Prisoners and for leave to Trade.

May 15	"	25	Ditto	Extract of a Speech,² from Major De Peyster to the Ottawas, Wyandotts, Chippawas, and Pottawatamies of Detroit to repair immediately to the relief of the Shawanese.

June 14	"	26	Ditto	Substances of a Council with the Oui-qu-a-pous, Mascontongs,¹ Ouiattanons, Pianquishaws, Miamis and Peyawris Nations for to go to the relief of St. Dusky.

JACOB SCHIEFFELIN'S MEMORIAL TO BRIG. GEN. ALLAN MACLEAN

To Brigadier General McLean commanding the Upper Posts &c. &c. &c.

The Memorial of Jacob Schieffelin¹ Lieutenant of the Detroit Volunteers and Secretary to the Indian Dept.

Your memorialist having been appointed since June 1777 a first Lieutenant of Detroit Volunteers, and continued as such ever since, having accompanied Lieut Gov. Hamilton to St. Vincennes where he, your memorialist, was made a Prisoner and carried to Williamsburg Prison in Virginia, and suffered a most rigorous confinement untill he effected his escape from thence and got to New York, at which place His Excellency Sir Henry Clinton appointed him to act as Lieut to the Queen's Rangers until your memorialist could have conveyance to Quebec which was in September 1780. On his arrival there, His Excellency General Haldimand was pleased to continue your Memorialist in pay as Lieut of the Detroit Volunteers altho' the men were no longer in existence as soldiers, and recommended him for his former office of secretary, should such be necessary. Your memorialist on the 28h October 1780 left Quebec with two Letters from His Excelly. the Commander in Chief, to the Commanding Officer of Detroit one of which was under cover, with a flying seal, to your Predecessor General Powell as they so nearly concerned your memorialist he could wish that you had seen them.
