INTRODUCTION
The summary counts of the material remains recovered from both the 1993 and 1994
summer excavations are listed in Appendix A. A grand total of 89,307 pieces of
material culture were collected during both years. The vast majority of these
artifacts are affiliated with the Oliver Phase occupation of the site. The artifact
class of highest frequency was pottery, followed by chert debitage, limestone
fragments, and sandstone fire-cracked rock. Organic remains such as bone and shell
were found to be very poorly preserved, and, consequently, are extremely under-represented
in the sample of material remains recovered from the site. This section of the
report will summarize the major categories of cultural material and provide descriptions
of diagnostic examples of the artifacts.
