Black and White Photographic Print affixed to 5"X8" card stock
One of the important physical features of any Middle Mississippian site is an encircling stockade. Angel Site, in this respect, is no exception. All who mapped the site in previous years called attention to this feature in varying degrees of correctness. Much of the stockade was observed and mapped. From aerial photographs it is possible to determine the extent and trend of much of the stockade line but due to extensive cultivation through the years, as well as activity on the part of the Indians before the site was abandoned, a goodly part of the defensive measures show indistinctly even on aerial photographs such as this.
