Mound F
This is a copy of a print which was made from a negative exposed by a "brownie Camera" suspended from a kite above Mound F.

The picture shows all features pertaining to the primary structure and gives an idea of the extent of the excavation as well. The square area around the primary mound represents the area which had to be excavated in order to completely encompass the secondary mound, or Mound F as it was when excavation began. A portion of the area to the right had been, of course, excavated but had been backfilled during the initial stages of the excavation. Around the edge of the square area it had been necessary to dig trenches to drain the area being worked. Rains and drainage was a constant problem here.

Shortly after this picture was taken the top of the mound and slopes was covered with straw to prevent undue errosion and the exploration here was brought to a close.

The mound is today much as it appears here except that, since 1941, there has been a heavy vegitation cover developed.
