Black and White photograph affixed to 4X6" card stock. In this picture the camers is oriented to the southeast looking over the Blocks in X-11-C at the southeast corner of the village area. The man standing in the distant center background marks the locale of the initial trenches which were dug across the bed of the small stream which flowed past the east side of the village.
The men in the foreground are removing earth by means of trowels from the ten foot Blocks, removing earth by shovel to wheelbarrow for removal to the waste piles, and at the right Merril Grothe, "Engineer", can be seen making a scale drawing of the feature encountered in that particular Block floor and profile wall.
